Pond Walks

Welcome to the Illiana Garden Pond Walk 2006

Lowell, Indiana

Pond #14

With a passion for landscaping and only a few acres to work with, this property is an endless palate of creativity. The biggest obstacle for the development of this property's landscape was the poorly drained, flood prone low spot of the property. From this, a new passion evolved. Why fight it when you can dig it! The desire to utilize the entire property led to the creation of a 6,000 square foot natural earth-dug pond that was excavated in 2004. By combining the best of both worlds, a landscape has been created around the shoreline as well as in the water. Water iris, marsh marigold, hibiscus, bald cypress, water celery, lobelia, sedges and numerous other plants adorn the shoreline. Over twenty different lilies and lotus plants accent the water. Seasonal tropical plants, floaters and a lighted fountain provide further interest to the pond. The pond has created an aesthetically pleasing site for the homeowners as well as for the neighborhood.
