Welcome to the Illiana Garden Pond Walk 2006
Lowell, Indiana
Pond #15
When you first viewed this 11 x 16 pond on the 2004 Pond Walk, it was in its infancy, only six weeks old. We would love to have you come back and see how it has matured since 2004. Constructed entirely by the homeowners (and somewhat willing family members), it is proof that anyone can create and enjoy a water garden. This pond appears to be naturally set, beautifully surrounded by a 1 acre country garden and "meadow" filled with a variety of perennial beds and trees. Water lilies and marginal plantings, along with the adjacent plant material create many intriguing views to enjoy. When first built, the pond was home to 5 goldfish transferred from a small water feature. During our first pond walk, a Good Samaritan donated 4 good sized goldies. We now have over 30. This year we plan to add Shubunkins and Fantails to the mix. Mother Nature has supplied an abundance of frogs and many birds come to drink and bathe.
