Welcome to the Illiana Garden Pond Walk 2006
Dyer, Indiana
Pond #6
This pond was built in 2002 by Cutters Edge, Inc. It measures 17' x24' and is approximately 30" deep in the center. It features a wide bog area along all four sides. It holds over 4000 gallons of water and is home to a few Koi and approximately 50 other pond fish. The pond features an Aquascape system with a 2 ft. high waterfall. A 4500 GPH pump drives the whole ecosystem. The lily plants are planted in pockets eliminating pots. Various plants surround the pond including Black-eyed Susan, Black Taro, Elephant Ears, Yucca, Hostas, Day Lilies and evergreens. The pond butts up to a deck that is attached to the house. A small viewing deck was installed along one whole side of the pond. In 2005, a concrete border was added to encompass the entire pond and flora. This pond features a crisscross arrangement of thin line to ward off the herons that like to frequent themselves to a fish snack.
