Pond Walks

Welcome to the Illiana Garden Pond Walk 2006

Crete, Illinois

Pond #8

This pond was built in 2005 by the owner. This large 13,000 gallon koi pond and water garden is 30'x15'. The upper 2,000 gallon pond has a variety of water plants and spills into a lower 11,000 gallon pond with an 8' wide waterfall. The lower pond is home to a number of large imported Japanese koi. The custom designed filter system controls water quality with very little maintenance. Two aerated bottom drains feed into four 250 gallon filter chambers, with twin 6000 GPH pumps the water is pumped through two bead filters for biological filtration and polishing.
