Pond #9
7529 Fawn Valley Dr. Schererville, IN
Completed in 2011 by South County Landscaping, the 5000 gallon water garden, which includes a pond, 18-foot stream and plant-filled bog were constructed with weathered limestone and sandstone rocks, the perfect complement to a natural setting of large oak and pine trees. The infinity edge Aquascape TM pond has no skimmer, making it practically maintenance-free; and “IonGen” water ionizer takes care of algae growth. No need to fill the pond as a rain harvesting underground storage system supplies water and greatly limits harmful storm runoff. A LED lighting system supports the eco-friendly goals of this home. Flanking the pond are two patios connected by a bridge, one enclosed with a unique three-sided Cedar pergola and another features a “fire rock”. The home’s outdoor living space is further extended by covered screen porches that overlook a formal garden with a 6-foot “raining” fountain ringed by a boxwood hedge and hydrangeas. Two fountains greet visitors at the home’s front entrance, one a bubbling rock that comprises another rain harvesting system. The soothing sounds of water can be enjoyed at every turn of this backyard paradise!
